Brag: I won a softball game in the douchiest way today.

I'm horrible at softball. I'm really, really bad. I can't hit or field well. I made two errors on pop ups at 2B in this game.

This is a co-ed league. Batting orders must alternate girl-guy. We only had 4 girls show up so we were taking an out every time two guys batted in order. On top of that we can only play 9 defensively and the other team can play 10 defensively (4 outfielders).

My team is also very bad. We have not won a real game yet this year. The only win we have is from a forfeit.

Going into the bottom of the last inning, it's tied 5-5.

The inning works itself out and it comes down to me at the plate, men on first and second, TWO outs.

I suck at hitting. I'm so bad.

I get up there.

I take ball 1.
I take ball 2.
I take strike 1.
I take ball 3 (really close pitch).
I take ball 4.

I start running towards first jumping in the air screaming "WE WIN WE WIN WE WIN!!!!"

everyone is looking at me like im crazy, but I start yelling "it's in the rules! if you walk a guy the girl behind him automatically walks, if she walks we win the game!!! we win the game!!!"

sure enough, ump asks the girl if she wants the walk, she says yes... he says "ballgame, they win!"

we're all going nuts

the other team is PISSED. throwing their gloves (seriously), cursing, yelling "this is ridiculous"

the thing is I went up to the plate with the intention of trying to work a walk and I did it

i was told that during the game there was a pop up that you were camped under, and like 2 seconds before it landed you yelled "SOMEONE ELSE CATCH IT!!!!111".

its all well and good though. as we say: we play to win the game

I was on a coed softball team in college. It really was the worst team ever. You know how I know we were the worst team ever?...

We got no-hit. In slow-pitch softball. We didn't get a hit the entire game. By a guy who was pitching left handed because he dislocated his right shoulder.

Who plays softball with walks? This must be a college thing because normal people (older and drunken) can't throw enough strikes. Also it's a lot more fun to let everyone put it in play.
