Default Does your HH have TIVO / DVR Service?

Seems like 2p2 community is far ahead of the mainstream technology curve, but was curious about the PVR / DVR adoption rate here.

And any thoughts you'd like to add about improved functionality, ad watching (do you watch them), change in viewing habits, whatever would be cool to hear. Thanks!

We have 3 DVR's in our house (2 SD DirecTivo's and a DTV HD DVR). I couldnt imagine living without them. Except for some sporting events, I watch hardly anything live anymore. I cant stand commercials, so I almost always watch things recorded. I'll even kill time doing something else to wait until I get 15 minutes into a show that I want to watch to avoid commercials.

I agree it'd be nice to correlate tivos with age groups.

It's a shame you didn't do that. You're just going to find out that most of OOT has a Tivo and most of OOT is young.

Sam - whoops I am a polltard... that's what I wanted to do. I never make polls... so I should've just done 2 demo polls (Yes I have DVR here is my age / No I have DVR here is my age).

Al,

I've had two ReplayTVs since 2002. They were sued because they had technology which jumps over commercials automatically, which is pretty awesome. Plus they were on the cutting edge regarding streaming video between two units (I can watch shows recorded in my bedroom unit in my main room and vice versa) as well as allowing open source programmers to develop an application which allows streaming and show migration to PCs on the same network (DVArchive).

There is a reason that everyone who has DVRs says the same thing - they couldn't imagine living without them.

DVR HH penetration in the States is not that high is the thing. It's ~20% right now or so, eyeballing stats released by DirecTV, Cablevision, TimeWarner, TIVO and Charter.

I'm guessing 2p2 is more like... 80% that's a huge spread, and wanted to confirm that (thought occurred to me when a couple people in The Office thread noted they missed out on some of it, indicating they didn't have DVR, and that kind of surprised me).

We have 2 standalone TiVos (1 a Humax w/ burn-to-DVD capability), both of them with www.weaknees.com disk upgrades, for totable recording capacity of about 800 hours.

On the long list of absolutely-can't-live-without-it-once-you-have-it over the last 20 years, the items that come instantly to mind (chronologically) are:

Answering machine
Cell phone
TiVo
XM radio

Living in our time is [censored] awesome.

My Hand Histories have no DVR service, but I can replay them using the Poker Tracker Hand Reply tool, so I didn't know how to answer.
