Think I have a hernia, now what

First let me start off by saying I hate doctors and can't stand them, so I avoid them at all cost.Haven't been there since my freshman high school pysical. I recently found a small bump under my skin to the right of my groin area. Its not visible but noticable if you touch it. I have done some online searching and I'm pretty sure its a hernia. Do hernias just go away or do they need medical treatment. It doesn't hurt yet unless I push on it then its a little pinch but nothing severe. Thanks.

Man up and go to the doctor. You're paying for the insurance may as well us it. You'd hate for it to turn out to be something serious that could have been easily treated.

Lumps in the groin area are nothing to mess around with or self diagnose. You can ignore it and then feel sorry for yourself when it turns out to be something serious, or you can get piece of mind and have it looked at by a doctor.

Hi,

I'm a physician, so it's my job to point out worst case scenarios. I'm an anesthesiologist, so my expertise isn't groin masses, but..

A hernia is a defect in the abdominal wall in which a segment of bowel can become incarcerated (stuck) or strangulated.(stuck and blood supply interrupted) Groin masses can be lymph nodes which are most often infectious in nature but could be cancerous.
