Default \"We want to play that all in game\".

i was sitting in the biggest nl game at commerce. at that time the area has a 600 minimum buy in, a 2000, and a 10K (maybe a 5K too i am not certain). i got up to go to the bathroom, and as i walk by the floor, 2 early 20 something (maybe less) males approach the floor and say, "we would like to play that all in game". i was certain that they were not trying to be funny. he seated them in the $600. i then asked him about it, he says it happens a few times a week. he also said that they had to explain everything to those 2 from how to post, to betting, etc.. i looked up about 45 minutes later and they were gone. you have to love televised poker.

Where have you been? I just wish I had a dollar, back in WPT's first season, when people would come to the table and proclaim "I know ALL about Poker, except ... How does this blind thing work?"

Of course your story shows a good point, since these guys $600 lasted them a whole 45 minutes, how soon do you think these "want to play that all in game" guys are going to come back?

No Limit will kill poker, when they do it like this. The floor should try to steer these guys to a limit game, or some very low max donk-a-stack.

"Hey, remember when we blew $600 in half an hour playing that all-in game?"
"Yeah, let's go bowling."

...And it goes without saying now that everyone should be nice to new players - ESPECIALLY after they go all in with KJ suited against your AA and they stack ya lol

Good point CardCounter.

The floor didn't do those two guys any favors, nor the poker room, nor poker players, excluding the people who reaped the quick rewards of those guys buy-ins.

Very likely, two potential customers won't return to the room, which is not good for the room or other poker players. Loosing their buy-ins in 30 mins or less and looking like idiots isn't exactly the feeling people/fish want to get and still return.

Its commerce, there will be plenty more players coming once that seat opens.

Its nice when you discover a new player. I get called down by K6o and lose with KQ. I kinda wonder why he would call with that hand, then he later informs me it was his 2nd time playing poker in his life and that he was here on business (9/18). That was a good session.

they wanted to play all in poker. they didn't want to play minbet poker. trying to steer them to limit would be dumb. steering them to the smaller no limit games would have made a lot more sense.

what's the floor supposed to say? "NO YOU GUYS ARE FISH YOU SHOULDNT PLAY ALL IN POKER, TRY THE FLOOR GUY OVER THERE FOR NO ALL IN POKER"

Agreed. I am also a proponent of limit games for a healthy poker economy, but if the players show up specifically to play no-limit, then cater to them..

It may be that they play fixed limit next time they come in to the cardroom, however.

stinky is right!!

Guys like this (and they are everywhere, surprised this is amulet's first encounter with something like that) likely would NEVER have come to the room in the first place without seeing the big 'all-in staredown' and "It's a race Vince!!" on TV.

If that's the game that brought them in the door and got them all excited and that's the whole reason they want to play at all in the first place then you kind of have to give them that game, don't you?

All of the "I want to play the all-in game" types and many others who actually know it is called "no limit" are ONLY playing that game because they saw it on TV.
