Problems with pairs (ps 3 +.25, 6max)
Nothing tricky or specific to STTs really but that's what I was playing. I took a short break and since coming back I've taken a beating playing my pairs. These hands were back-to-back so seems like a good one to post but i'm finding myself in similar situations often lately with similar results. Any comments appreciated. Maybe i'll post some later stages where blinds were higher next. Thanks.

fold 1.
I check/fold 2, but I guess I could see a small cbet. |

Fold 1, check/fold 2.
I don't like the c-bet I think its very rare one of them doesn't have an Ace. I'm not about to try to get them to fold one if they have it. |

Re: Problems with pairs (ps 3 +.25, 6max)
Thanks. Would I make my life easier raising more PF? Or are they ok and I just need to be more careful when A/K hits?
Also, on #1 do you see his bet as having a K and wanting me to call? At the time, I thought he didn't want me to bet/cbet representing one and wanted to know where he was. Is that dumb or just not worth it since it was so early? on #2, if it checks around, would you bet the turn? (assume not obvious scare card) |

Thanks. Would I make my life easier raising more PF? Or are they ok and I just need to be more careful when A/K hits? [/ QUOTE ] No, your pf raise is fine. Sometimes you just get outflopped. As long as you can get away cheaply, you'll be fine. And when they hit the flop, but you have an overpair, you'll take their stack....so I wouldn't worry about it too much. [ QUOTE ] Also, on #1 do you see his bet as having a K and wanting me to call? At the time, I thought he didn't want me to bet/cbet representing one and wanted to know where he was. Is that dumb or just not worth it since it was so early? [/ QUOTE ] The thing to keep in mind is that even if he does not have a K, it's likely one of the other players do. And you can't really call here and you can't really raise. Your reverse implied odds are terrible. So just fold and get out of the way. [ QUOTE ] on #2, if it checks around, would you bet the turn? (assume not obvious scare card) [/ QUOTE ] this is sort of read dependent based on what kinds of hands you think they call with. If you think they call with a lot of junk, then I think you can make a modest c-bet on the turn.....if you think they're calling you with high cards, I would just check the turn again. |

Re: Problems with pairs (ps 3 +.25, 6max)
Fold and Fold. At this buy-in very few people will bet unless they hit. If they do hit however small no amount of check-raising will push them off. I have tried.
