Default AKs against TAG

live 9 handed 20-40 game. I have a tight but perhaps weak image. I have been raising quite a bit preflop but completely missing on the flop and check folding or bet folding. I have been running pretty badly.

My opponent is running great and hitting every hand he plays. He he is TAG and seems to be playing pretty straight forward. I haven't played much with him but my best guess is that his reraising hands are TT-AA, AK in this situation. I don't think he is isolating me.

I raise UTG with AhKh, it is folded to him on the button and he reraises, all fold to me and I make it four bets(By the way, I have seen him make it 5 bets with QQ, however, this was against a very laggy player). He just calls.

The flop: Jc8c6h.

I bet he calls(At this point I put him on AK or possibly a big pocket pair which he intends on raising the turn with).

The turn: Jc8c6h4s

I bet and he calls.

The river: Jc8c6h4s5c

What is my play? Check-call, check-fold, bet-fold? or something else?

Is my preflop 4bet correct or should I have just smooth called?

i like check call alot more than bet, because getting raised eats hard, we kind of need to showdown, and based on read, he is folding unless ur beat.

based on description, I can't see how he calls with a hand you beat. You're really hoping he has AK too, maaaybe AQ (with clubs is more likely).

There is no hand you beat that calls a bet (maaaaybe AQ). You split it if he has AK. Therefore, it is a check. Whether you call on the end depends on whehter this opponent would ever bet with a worse, or the same hand. In general, a good player will not bet the river here with a hand that does not beat yours, so normally I think its a fold.

we will never win money on this river. we can only hope to lose the minimum.

your replies are tired and usually bad. put a little more thought into them.

Normally I'd say this is a pretty good line, mostly just because we are hoping to get him to fold another AK and save us half the pot. In this particular situation, though, I don't like it. Villain has been running hot so he's got lots of chips and probably feels pretty invisible. Combine that with hero's weak-tight image, and I think the chances are too high that he might bluff-raise us.

So I say check/call the river.
