Default Killer nic super network card - good for Poker??

Hey guys, I ran across this thing while reading a copy of Game Informer. Its obviously meant for no-lag PC internet gaming, but I'm curious as to whether or not there will be benefits for poker.

Also, if I put this thing in and hooked it up to a cable modem, could I hook the DSL modem to the PC's built in ethernet slot and have failover protection? (I have a dual-wan router, but even with it I still get lag occasionally). Thanks for the help.

Don't bother. This is a gimmick device that while it somewhat improves performance in extremely sensitive situations, it is far from worthwhile for the average joe. Only intense first person shooter players should ever buy this.

above poster is right, this card is meant for first-person shooters - and even then its function is still questionable. if you're looking for redundancy:

ftw

Great to know, thanks guys. Goldtoes, who makes that card in the picture? Do you think its a better bet than a dual wan router?

I am assuming with your dual WAN router you have two seperate internet connections? Otherwise I don't see the purpose.

I do not know who makes that card, as I just google-imaged it. You can look at any hardware site and find them, I'm sure. But this would be the same deal - it isn't effective unless you have different connections coming into each port. If you have 4 lines coming in from the same router which only has 1 internet connection...if you experience hiccups or downtime, you will have it on all 4 ports.

Yes I have 2 connections. My router is good, but still gives me some occasional delays. I'm trying to figure out if a multi-port card will do a better job than the router.

Lag happens. How do you know it is from your hardware? Most likely it is upstream somewhere from your system.

I rarely get lag from my one connection. It's pretty sick that Soul Rebel has a dual WAN router with 2 different connections and still has problems.
