Default Avoiding International Check Fees

I recently received several checks from Party Poker. They are all international checks and my bank wants to charge me $40 for each check as a processing fee because they are international. I use Bank Of America. I can't express in words how much I've come to hate Bank of America... Anyway, Does anyone know how to avoid fees for international checks?

Use the checks to open an account at a non-fee happy Bank of America type bank. I'm waiting for BOA to have a fee for charging you fees.
