Default Rumour - Neteller will no longer allow gambling transactions at all

In a sports betting forum that I frequent, there is a lengthy discussion of the benefits of using alternate e-wallets. That is where I came across the following post:

This is an extract from a livechat session with Betmaker (part of the Betcris group)

CS - Adrianna: our money bookers account is in USD, so if you want to avoid currency conversion fees, id better if you have your account in USD
Guest: ok I can transfer some cash to my Moneybookers $ account
CS - Adrianna: but you need to know that moneybookers is having problems, specially for pay outs, so that is not an option any more for us
Guest: ok i'll use neteller
CS - Adrianna: neteller is going to close in 1 or 2 weeks, so that is not an option either
Guest: what? close on your site or close altogether?
CS - Adrianna: close to make transaction with gambling companies
Guest: even for customers outside the US?
CS - Adrianna: correct
CS - Adrianna: for US they closed like 2 month ago
CS - Adrianna: and now they are going to close for everyone
CS - Adrianna: Is there anything else I can do for you?

I am not worried about my Moneybookers account, since I have experienced no problems with them, and have read of no bad press regarding this e-wallet. So I have prefered to use Moneybooker for the majority of my online gambling transactions over the past few months.

Still as I am based in the UK, I have still had access to my Neteller account, and have used it sparingly when I've really had to (reloading certain sportsbook accounts and such).

However, if there is any truth to 'Adrianna' statements, then Neteller is simply going to go the way of Paypal and stop allowing any gambling transactions full stop; regardless of where you live.

If so, it may prove prudent for us non-US/Canadian/Turkish gamblers to simply quit our Neteller accounts altogether and just move on...

Ray if this rumour is true like Tuco's post on Sunday, there will be mass chaos like we've never seen before in 2 weeks time. We'll know by then.

I really don't think a customer service rep for some random site would have access to this without us knowing about it already.

u do know, right, that 99% of their biz is gaming-related...
their 'pulling' out of the gambling market would be tantamount to Dell pulling out of the consumer-electronics market. it would be the end of neteller.

I think it's clear that "CS-Adrianna" has no clue what she's talking about, or else is speculating wildly.

Right now I am thinking it is more rumour than truth; and that maybe the sportsbook CS staff was probably basing her information off the very recent Neteller Canada/Turkey press release... I guess time will tell...

Yeah I think Adrianna is talking out of her ass. Neteller leaving the gambling market is hilarious, are they going to focus on the other 1% of their business? LOL

Well, that time frame coincides nicely with the pullout from Canada & Turkey...perhaps the CS agent has the facts a little confused.

As other posters have said, that would be their entire business. I would think that if some random CS agent knew this for a fact, that every site would know and understand the implications, and be pulling the plug on NT for everyone. If this was true, Party would've heard, and they'd pull NT for everyone before you could say Dikshit...
