Default W$389 - how best to get WSOP seat?

1 320?

2 160s?

3 try wait until i have enough for a 640?

I do OK at low limit sitNgoes and turbos but lack experience in high buy in sitNgoes. I have more experience in MTTs and I do well in satelites.

1) run good lol

2) i'd use the 389 for smaller satellites such as DSes into the 650s or $5 turbo rebuys to the 160. Both of these tournaments are incredibly soft for different reasons.

3) you can then unjoin these events to stock up on $W, or tell yourself you won't play a 650 until you win two seats or something.

I was thinking about the same thing. I'm planning on playing lower stakes sats and maybe SNGs until I get at least 2 seats to the 650s. I've set aside a certain % of bankroll for WSOP sats, so I need to build it up to get there. I'm trying to take a low variance approach right now, since I have time. If I don't make much progress, I may adopt a more aggressive strategy.

I don't plan to play the $320, $160DS, or $33R. I don't think that the $320s are great value, since they only pay seats to less than 3% of the field. I expect the $160 DS would have a good number of very good SNG players at the final table, so you'd have to get lucky if this isn't your specialty. $33R is probably even worse, since only 1st gets a seat. 2nd tier prizes are $650, so if you can get close, it's still worth something.

I'm focusing on the $2R, $4R, and $5R to build up my WSOP roll. I'll play the $16R and $27R when my bankroll is bigger. I'll play the $80 sat whenever I have more than about $200. It pays over 10% of the field, so it seems beatable. Since it's a freezeout, it's also closer to the kind of play you might expect from the $650, but with worse players. Rebuys satellites seem to be a unique beast, particularly at the lowest levels.

Good luck

The $5R turbos pay seats to the $160, so they're a good BR builder, but they're not going to get you directly to the $650. I wish more of these were running, so that multitabling was possible. You're lucky if you can play in 3 different sats at similar buyins at the same time.

Above, I missed the $11R which does pay seats to the $650. It's not turbo, so it takes about 4 hrs, but you could take a number of shots with your bankroll. It doesn't pay a very high % of the field, though.

Sell your W$s for real $375 (you can do it if you're patient).

Cash out.

Go to Vegas for WSOP and play three $125 SnGs (if they've cut the $125 play the $175). They're softer than anything you'll find online. Chop to get one $500 chip, sell it and continue playing SnGs until you have at least $1,500.

Enter a $1,000 (don't remember the vig) SnG and win. If you miss, play more $125 SnGs.

Continue until you have your seat.

I truly believe this is the most reliable way to turn W$389 into a ME seat.

read adanthars thread....

don't play any DS's of any stakes...

build up roll playing the 5Rturbos

play the 80FO (and the 27R) to the 650

lather rinse repeat

(the only direct qualifier u should be playing should be the sunday 650 if ur a decent sat. player, unless you feel like playing an FPP sat).

but then I'd miss out on the bonus for making the FT and winning it. not to mention the $1k spending moolah the free hotel room. although I wonder if they'd give you that stuff if you "bought" a seat through them.

The best way is to have a reasonable amount to spend on satellite or buy in directly. This can be accomplished by winning a lot at poker. Otherwise, you can try getting a good job, starting a successful business, making a lot through investments, or inheriting some money.
