KK on A high board
1/2NL 7handed live game.
Effective stacks of about 100. Loose/tricky player limps UTG, one caller in MP, aggressive player in LP makes it 12. I'm in SB with KK and reraise to 35 total. UTG calls. Everyone else folds. Flop (heads-up) $84: A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I check. He checks. Turn: 10 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check. He bets me all in. I call. Is my line okay? Should I play differently? |

Re: KK on A high board
How about betting like $60 on flop and folding to push/ shutting down if called? I think it's better because QQ/JJ will fold always and if you check flop QQ and JJ might just try to push you of KK. Also, AK and AQ beat you so calling on turn is bad IMO

Re: KK on A high board
Given the stack sizes, I'd push the flop and hope he missed with QQ/JJ/TT/etc. I'd also hope he can fold AQ/AJ/AT, but live game players will not fold TPWK given the stack sizes if they flop top pair.
So much of your stacks went in preflop (1/3 of your stack), that I think you are pretty much pot-committed to push just about any flop. I would rather push the flop than check the flop and c/c all-in on the turn. |

Re: KK on A high board
Albert and Robin, we don't want to fold out QQ, JJ, or TT. Also, AT+ is an instacall for villian if we shove. OP, I think it is fine, if anything I might make it $40 preflop, but thats not a huge adjustment.

Re: KK on A high board
Your line looks fine to me. After you check twice villain could definitely be bluffing.
People who want to bet this flop because "QQ missed" are freakin' donkeys. Why exactly do we want to fold out a 2-outer again? Now, if you think QQ/JJ will CALL on the flop, different story. Any ace will never fold on that flop given that they called pre-flop. |

Re: KK on A high board
If on the flop you decide that you are going to get it all in in spite of the A then I think a check is best because it will give you the best chance to induce a bluff from lower pairs. I think this line is better than open pushing.
If you're planning to make a laydown if he bets/raises then your only option is c/f as you don't have enough money to make any sizeable bet and then make a fold. Personally, I like the flop check. After the check behind I would just shove the turn. After checking the flop and turn though I think the turn call is fine. |
