OT (xpost from software): Programming work during WSOP...

I just wanted to post this here too cuz I know a bunch of you. If it's too out of place just kill it. But I think there are a bunch of smart sttf programmers, and possibly this would be cool for them.

So my yearly dilemna of how to handle the typical onslaught of new work while wanting to be in LV has found a possible new solution...

I'm thinking of taking my work down to the WSOP this summer, and am even considering taking on some extra clients in order support more programmers who want to hang in Vegas and have some project-based work for the month+ of the wsop.

My thought is that I'd get a house where people can stay if they want, and stock it full of workstations. Then have a bunch of dev chunks (tasks) available with values assigned. People can grab a chunk, get it coded, and get paid. Work as much or as little as we want.

Sleep in, jump in the pool, code for a few hours to make some extra money for the inevitable trip to the Rhino, head off for some poker...

Basically, my dream job.


Still not decided, though I have a few friends interested already, which is almost enough for me to do it.
Thought I'd make a post here to see if the idea is of any interest to anyone here as well. Cuz I know there is a lot of talent here (and many with the same dilemna/dream!)
So I'm starting an interest list.

If I could figure out how to use forceps or a vacuum extractor maybe I'd bring down a truckload of pregnant women instead of computers.

I'd hate to be the client paying for programming in small chunks by a bunch of drunk ballas on a stopover between the casino and strip joint.

And please don't accept any work from the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, or the FAA.
