Two 30-60 hands for the variance lover in you
There's been some threads about the variance of stud. Here's two good examples I saw in the same game of why it is.
Full live 30-60 5 ante 10 BI. 3rd 4 BI's, Tc raises, 8d calls, 7c calls, 4 now raises to 60, Tc raises to 90, 8d calls, 7c folds, 4 calls. 4th - 8d catches a J and ch's, 4 bets, Tc raises, J coldcalls, 4 raises to 90, Tc caps, J calls two more. 5th - 8d J 6, ch'd to Tc who bets, they call. 6th - 8d J 6 7, ch'd to Tc who bets, they call. 7th - They all ch. 4 had (QQ) UI. Tc was rolled UI. 8d shows (99) 8d J 6 7 (5) for a str and takes it down. Second hand I'll make quick. A 7d raises, it's raised twice behind him by A's and K's, 7d has (TT) and there's a dead T up. He calls 60 back to him, it's capped and he wins with a fl. Some of the worst play I've seen dragging huge pots. You see bad players win pots they have no business in at holdem. But NO WHERE NEAR the rate you see them do it at stud. NO WHERE NEAR IT. Looking at the percentages in a 3 way pot, the favorite in holdem holds up close to it. The favorite in stud doesn't come close. When it's say 40% 35-25, the 40 in holdem comes close. The 40 in stud is lucky to win 20% of the time. I honestly believe that. BTW -I wasn't in those hands. |

Stud and actually Stud 8 are games where situations arise where your oppents could be drawing dead and you know there dead. I just wish I didnt have to fly to AC to play it reguarly. Thanks Neteller good looking out.
