Middle pair faces turn donk from flop cold caller
I'm fairly new to the table, so I have very limited reads. SB has been involved in several hands and seemed aggressive preflop and postflop, but hasn't had to showdown anything. BB seems to be a bit loose.
I open K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in MP, SB and BB call. Flop (6SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] SB checks, BB bets, I raise, SB and BB call. Turn (6BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] SB bets, BB folds, I'm confused... What do you suspect he could be doing this with? My thoughts at the time were a Qx hand denying me a free card opportunity, or perhaps he now has a strange 2pair. Should I call him down because of the weird line? I'm getting 7 to 1, have 5-7 outs possibly, so I've also got around the odds needed to peel one card too. |

The fact that SB called two cold on the flop, then led a blank turn is pretty scary IMO. I'd probably call down not feeling too good about it.

Re: Middle pair faces turn donk from flop cold caller
this is kinda screaming a big hand, only hand u beat is a draw that is trying to get to the river for cheap and maybe push u out. I would call down to see his hand then instant note take on him and perhaps fold in the river once i see what he is playing with this way.

I hate this, imho if you peel one card you have to pay off the River. I would call down and take a note but not sure if this is good.

Re: Middle pair faces turn donk from flop cold caller
why does everyone call this down in a protected pot vs someone who cold called the flop and bet into 2?
that line is hardly ever a worse hand, 95% of the time its a guy with a good hand who doesnt want to lose the guy in the middle by 3betting the flop (same line of thought on why he donks the turn doesnt want to cr shut him out or let up a freecard). and how does betting out when ur first to act on the turn help u showdown a draw cheaper (could only make it more expensive)? i dont get that line of thought Johnny. Theres also no way he expects u both to fold, so u should fold here since u dont have the odds to draw if behind (which u almost always are). get ur notes in spots where the decision is closer to a marginal calldown; not one where ur almost always toast and have to pay 2 bbs to showdown. |

I call down without a read. This donk is an odd play and people who make such odd plays could have alot of things.

Re: Middle pair faces turn donk from flop cold caller
I think I definitely should fold here but Im not sure that I do at the table.
Does everyone love the flop raise of the donk? I assume we're trying to only put in two BBs postflop or are there situations where we bet the river UI? |
