By looks alone, I have to go with the Samsung. As far as quality, your guess is as good as mine.

Pioneer makes the best plasmas but they are pricey. Panasonics are very good and undoubtedly the best value.

IDK about their big screens, but my lil Samsung TV's picture is getting worse and worse everyday. I'm no expert but I don't think TV color/tint/brightness should be this bad after only a few years. It really is a pain to have to fiddle w/ the "gages" everytime I start to watch TV. UGH

Also I've purchased 2 Samsung DVD/VCR players that have had trouble loading and playing regular store-bought DVDs. Everything works in the beginning, then you stop using a machine for a while, go to try and use it and no luv. Suffice to say I am done w/ Samsung. Too bad too b/c I like their products.

qft again,

I bought the 50" Pioneer right before New Year's and it's pretty spectacular.

Samsung's are a reasonable option if you don't want a Pioneer or Panasonic for some reason. Other great options are the industrial plasmas from Pioneer, Panasonic and NEC. These lack some extras (tuner, speakers), but they're usually cheaper and offer a more minimalist look (while having the same actual panel inside).
