Default Omaha Hi/Lo Newbie, tournie advice

I eventually folded, but I really wanted to play, is there a good reason to play my hand past the flop here?

WRR1980 - This one is easy. Muck the hand before the flop.

9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is not close to being voluntarily playable at a full table, not in a tournament, not in a ring game.

agreed, you need to review O8 fundamentals and maybe research what types of hands are profitable.

the person who won the hand had no business being in it either.

Muck preflop, and the flop missed you badly also. If you're even tempted to continue on boards like that, it's gonna be hard to turn a profit at this game.

Assuming that you understand why 3459 is a crap-hand, let's assume you were playing with the thought:

'If it flops A2, I could get paid handsomely here. '

In Omaha, the chances of flopping any two card combination of cards that you are not holding is about 3%, which means that if you are going into the flop looking for only that combination, you need to get paid about 30 to 1 for your efforts. In this case, paying 60, you want to walk out with T1800 as the justification for limping this junk.

Your stack is big enough that you could theoretically get paid this big, but its tough to envision a scenario where you would both scoop and get paid with all of your chips in the middle, as you'd only get action from strong highs or other 34 hands, and you're still drawing to the wheel on the A2 flop.

You could almost justify this hand in Small Blind at a table of feebs, but otherwise its a clear toss.

Post flop, you are way behind A2, A3, A4 and 23 for the low. It is very difficult to imagine that none of these hands are out against you. For the high side, there's a reason why they call it the idiot end of the straight.
