Default JJ OOP, c/c river?

No reads on villain, calling station-esque. I checked turn for pot control, I checked called river because I was only beating TT or a busted straight draw, was this play ok?

On the flop, I'd bet closer to the pot against a calling station on such a drawy board. The rest looks fine.

That's a 1/4 pot bet on the end when the top card pairs...unless you think he's capable of making this as a bluff, I guess you have to call but are probably beat.

On the other hand, draws didn't get there -- what are odds he raises A9 and just flat calls your flop bet?

Either way -- hard to fold for $8. Either great valuebet by villain or great c/c by you.

I probably bet more on the flop, but the turn and river checks look good to me.

It's interesting how giving your opponent control of the hand, even out of position, can at times in fact be an excellent form of pot control versus people who habitually underbet.

Also, snapping off tiny little 1/4 pot river bluffs can be fun. (I'm not claiming you're always going to be best here, but it is fun to see ATo at the end of a hand like this.)

Or maybe it was a value bet. In addition to TT, Villain could have something like A7s, couldn't he?
