The best book for 6-max no-limit holdem?
I already have Small Stakes Holdem, Holdem for Advanced Players, and the Theory of Poker. I need something geared for single table no-limit holdem, especially for 6-max games. I want to start 3-4 tabling 6-max no limit at the 5-10 structure. Does 2+2 have anything on the market that primarly focus on this single aspect of poker? If not why?? Any good recommendations would be greatly appreciated. TY

Currently, there are no books available on the subject matter you are looking for. However, there are books currently in the works that many of us are looking forward to.

Re: The best book for 6-max no-limit holdem?
Im also waiting for a 6 max NLHE book. Maybe Harringtons will cover shorthanded play in his up and coming books. I know there are a few short handed LHE books not far away.

Re: The best book for 6-max no-limit holdem?
I find it amazing that the most popular forum's on 2+2 are about NLHE and most of these posts concern 6-max play, yet no 2+2 books on this perticular subject.

Re: The best book for 6-max no-limit holdem?
There are two main factors in play here...
1) NL has only been popularized by the poker boom. Prior to the boom NL was not a common game found in most casinos. Therefore, there was very little demand until recent years. 2) Because of the virtually infinite number of factors involved in decisions through each hand of NL hold'em the subject is not easy to right about. Things like bet size & stack size (to name only a couple) change so often and are important enough in many situations that the best way too play the same hand is often unique to each hand. Again, this does not make for easy subject matter to right an accurate book about. |

PS 6max is much closer to early NLHE tournament play than full ring is IMO. In 6 max, you normally want to win a lot of small pots. Same for tournaments. At full ring, you play fewer pots and try to win big pots. |

Brunson's chapter in Super System, although it was written 30 years before 6-max existed.

Brunson's chapter in Super System, although it was written 30 years before 6-max existed. [/ QUOTE ] Meh, Brunson advocates limping with big pairs and small pairs and suited connectors. He advocates open raising with AK + QQ-99 + perhaps suited broadway. Pretty brutal preflop strategy for 6 max. Postflop, I love SuperSystem. |
