Is that why I'm seeing people limp AK a lot lately?

meh - I don't know what scenarios they are suggesting limping AK PF, but I'd raise PF here, then 80% pot bet the flop.

There are times I limp AK PF (not a lot), but from MP1 unopened I'm raising.

limping with AK is probably better at the higher buyins where players won't donk off with ace rag when an ace hits. The theory is to try to keep the pot small. Your only going to hit a pair 1/3 of the time, the rest you'll put out a cont. bet which you could easily lose, and when you do hit tptk you not too thrilled in getting all-in because against better players your not getting payed off by a worst hand. I just tried it here, I would normally raise, it didn't work out too bad, I won the pot after all.

I really dislike the limp preflop. You can no longer be comfortable getting it in when you hit. I really really hate it. I'm not even going to comment on the rest of the hand because I'd never ever do this.

I think that is terrible in that situation. you're giving great odds for people to draw out on you... I love sucking out on people that limp strong hands

Yes, at the 16/27 anyway. With AK you want to play a small pot or get it all in preflop, so you get to see all 5 cards.
