Villain is not dumb but a crazy LAG. he'll occasionally push pre with garbage and show then do the same with a solid hand. I have seen him over bet pots with the goods and with crap. People are scared of him usually.

Generally I just wait for him to hang himself against me as I slow pay made hands. He probably views me as tight. I was opening up my game a little against him and this came up.

No that's not why I am posting.

I am posting becuase I think most of the time I am good here against this guy but I understand there are two people left to act after me.

Also I know if I simply call, he will likely fire a second barrel. Hence I have a bit of a dilema.

My first instinct was to push actually.

It is because of this dilemma that you can just fold. If your J was a little better, let's say QJ+, then absolutely 100% call. But you have a midrange J and what are your plans for the rest of the hand? Too many x-factors in a pot with a draw... what if he thinks you just have clubs and tries to you push you off your J? You going all the way with it? I don't like that plan. This wasn't the flop you were looking for with the following action. If villain checked to you, bet it 100% of the time, but since he didn't...

I also hope you didn't go with your first instinct.

I didn't go with my first instinct because of people behind me.

Had I been heads up... against this guy I perhaps would have.

I decided a call here was a good option. It'll give me info on who's behind and since I have position on Villain I can evualte his decision.
