Probably theory but maybe not
I was thinking at my next home guy to try what I call the jamie gold theory in which i announce my hand during the other players turns so I can get them into calling. Only doing this once or twice. Just wondering if anyone else had sucess doing it.

"The Jamie Gold THeory?" YOu know that guy just ran into a sick run of cards right. DOn't do it, its just dumb to try and get someone call you. Its a home game, have fun, get drunk etc...

No but its a serious home game. I figure lets say i have a straight and i have a strong feeling the other guy has something like trips or 2 pair. If i announce that i have a straight in an attempt to make him think i'm lying.

Re: Probably theory but maybe not
Actually, it's probably a bad idea in that situation. Mike Caro wrote about this, saying you have a big hand, (years ago, before lol Goldaments) and he concluded that it's a good idea when you don't want a raise. For example, you have a medium hand, and you would like villain to pay you off, but you don't want to call a raise. This works because he thinks you either have the nuts or nothing. If you actually do have the nuts, though, don't say anything if there's a chance he'll raise for value. If you think he has bottom pair or a similar bluffcatcher, then go ahead and talk it up.
