Does things like this happen everywhere?
I was playing in the local weekly tourney. About half way thru 2 friends are the only ones left to play. BB friend pushes all in, other guy asks dealer "can i show him my cards before i make my move?" Dealer says yes, guy flips over 55, his butt buddy flips over QQ and the 55 guy folds and they both laugh about it. Dealer said something about a 10min timeout.
Is this common? I think everyone at the table was a bit upset but no one really said anything. |

Re: Does things like this happen everywhere?
No this def isn't kosher.
I think you used to be able to table your cards when facing an all in decision but it has since been ruled out from all big tournies. Nevertheless, I don't have a problem w/ 55 guy tabling his cards if it was a local friendly touney, but QQ guy def should not have shown his cards. The 2 friends were bascially colluding. I'm not sure what would happen if this ever happened at an "official" tourney. |

If he did it anyway, he'd be subject to a timeout penalty, 10 or 15 minutes spent away from the table watching his blinds get taken. If QQ also exposed his cards, same thing... into the penalty box. |

They're the only two remaining in the tournament. How are they colluding?

Dealer says yes, ...... ...... ...... Dealer said something about a 10min timeout. [/ QUOTE ] A. Not allowed. Period. B. Dealer seemed to say it was alright before the cards were exposed C. Dealer mentions a penalty only after he has OK'd it and they accepted his 'decision'? |

It's ALWAYS there no matter the objective facts of the matter. It's impossible to reason with them. What's concerning is that they seem to have had some effect in changing tournament rules. |

It's ALWAYS there no matter the objective facts of the matter. [/ QUOTE ] "objective facts of the matter"? The post you replied to misunderstood the OP. The tournament was not down to two players, just the one hand in question had the two friends left. So you say that in the middle of a tournament (lots of players left), it is fine for players that are heads up (and neither all-in) to show each other their cards before the hand is over? |
