Default Magazine idea

There may or may not be something to this idea. I haven't given it much thought and am just tossing it out for feedback and to help my friend Dynasty.

Get rid of the magazine forum.

For each article in the magazine, create an official thread in the relevant forum related to that article.

Put a link with each article to discussion for the article.

I think that might work out better in terms of ramping up visibility and interest in the magazine.

This is what happens now with articles about games like O8 or Stud. Problems will arise with what to do about articles that don't fit neatly into one forum.

Sticky pointer to main discussion thread for that article inside 'problem forums'.

ElD, Just to echo falcon... linking to Mag articles and Mag forum posts, for articles related to their forums is being done by at least some of the Mods.

Would be nice to know how many people are reading the Mag... maybe Chuck can provide some data on this?

I'd love to see more discussion of the Magazine's articles in the strategy forums. So, official threads in those forums would be a plus for the Magazine. That's already worked very well in the stud forum.

However, there are certain types of threads which wouldn't fit in any other forum. For example, each month I do a "Grade the Magazine" thread asking for feedback on the most recent issue. While a thread like that could find a home in some other forum, it would feel out of place. Also, the Magazine forum is in ideal place for posters to ask questions about the Magazine.

just leave everything as is, but add a stickied thread in the relevant forums with links to the appropriate threads in the magazine forum each month. it took me like 6 months to even realise that there WAS a magazine OR a magazine forum. whatever happened to Baron Vangor Toth, anyways?

That's too bad. He was responsible for the greatest thread in Magazine Forum history.

What are your criticisms of this month's Magazine?

Do you think regular authors such as Jeffage, Frank Jerome, and King Yao are not knowledgable on the topics they write about?
