losing connection to webpages but not poker sites or IM
I currently have a Linxys wireless router and Comcast cable internet. When I first sign onto my laptop the every internet usually works fine.
I can log onto say Full Tilt, fire up some tables and get an internet browser going with no problem. But after about 15 minutes it's often the case where the poker tables are working fine but I can no longer access web pages. My wife also experiences a similar situation where she's fine to use IM but can't access the web pages via a browser. If we click "repair" on our wireless connection after about 1 minute everything works fine. But of course that requires disabling our connection briefly and reconnecting which can be very annoying if you have 5 tables open. Anyone have any experience with this sort of situation? Thanks in advance, Luke |

Re: losing connection to webpages but not poker sites or IM
sounds like a DNS issue. Established connections remain open, but new lookups aren't being resolved. Are you using the linksys as your DNS server or pointing to Comcasts directly?

Re: losing connection to webpages but not poker sites or IM
Hmm regarding the DNS... My intention and I believe what I'm actually doing is connecting through my router. When I click on the "View available Wireless Networks" I see my Linksys router and connect to that as a default.
Thanks for your help so far. Is there anything that I can do to resolve this issue? Luke |

good chance your getting disconnected from those sites but not from the poker ones as those others go dormant. try downloading from bysoft.com stayalivepro-- this pings each 5 0r 6 seconds if you set it that way so it keeps you active. it really works. |
