Default \"I\'ll kill you both in the parking lot tonight\" floor ruling

Players in the 9 and 10 seats go to a showdown. Player in the 9 seat tables his hand like a gentleman, simply turning them over in front of his stack. Top pair. The player in the 10 seat shows one card to the other player then slams his cards down after exclaiming a few choice 4-letter words. His cards slide across the table and past the board. One card lands face up, the other face down. He had middle pair and who knows what else. Dealer mucks the 10 seats hand.

The 10 seat freaks out, claiming that he had the winning hand. His cards are totally buried in the muck and not retrievable whatsoever. I rule that the 10 seat’s hand is indeed dead and push the pot to the 9 seat.

You’re ruling?

The 10 seat really went ballistic upon my ruling and got tossed out FOREVER when he said to the dealer and me “I’ll kill you both in the parking lot tonight” (over maybe a $100 pot…lol). After a little discussion with the local PD, the Div. of Gaming and he was shown a mug shot from surveillance, he decided to not kill us and to leave town immediately.

Good. Muck the hand. Kick him out forever. 9k feet... Sounds like Colorado? I used to prop at the Rose and Bronco's in Cripple Creek. Where'd this happen?

Rulling seems fine - hand dead, player banned.

Just be glad you had security, surveillance, and the PD to back your play. Doing it by yourself, even with a shotgun in hand, is an unpleasant experience.

ahhhh the Lodge
I always like that place.

Have you noticed any rise or fall in the traffic in blackhawk poker rooms since they have made it harder to get money online?

Sadly, there's been little increase in traffic.

At your place. Those with lower rakes have seen a nice spike. Just food for thought...

That happened to one of the regulars in Topeka. I wasn't there, but a friend was. This guy is VERY large and has a criminal record for assault he's fairly proud of and dosn't at all mind telling people about. The dealer made a mistake of some sort during a NL2/5 hand and the player got seriously annoyed with the dealer and said "I'm going to kill you for that". Everybody ignored it figuring he wasn't serious. He repeats and adds "I'm going to kill you and your whole family." He's told "knock it off, we know you aren't serious and it isn't funny." Player insists he IS serious and rerepeats his threat.

He was soon surrounded by security and removed. He'll never set foot in a Harrah's property again, and he has criminal charges pending. He was given every opportunity to calm down or claim he was joking and he chose to go the other direction.

No reason at all to let that slide.

This is the way it's supposed to happen. There's absolutely no reason to tolerate this sort of thing.

You have to wonder though, what is it about being in a casino/poker room that makes people think that death threats will be ignored?

As sad as this sounds, I remember watching a LAWYER have his pocket kings accidently mucked by the dealer. He then starts yelling and threatens the dealer.

I would say he came 1 second away from getting his rear escouted out of the card room, but he suddenly shut up in the nick of time. What is really sad is if a LAWYER can't even act professional at a table over a lousy 200$ pot, what hope is there for the rest of humanity?

I don't get it.
