shoes without socks
i'm typically barefoot around the house throughout the day. when i want to run to the store real quick, i never feel like bothering to put socks on. i have some adidas superstars with loose laces that i can slip into and go. the problem is, these shoes now smell of teh funk. serious, nasty funk. my feet can be fresh & clean going into these suckers, and stank like ass when i kick them off 10 minutes later.
what shoes can you recommend that are suitable for rocking sockless? (note: i don't want/like sandals. i'm looking for shoes or some kind of loafers i guess??) |

Re: shoes without socks
You can wash your shoes. Soak them in soapy water, rinse them really well, let them dry.
They will be stiff for about an hour or so the first time you wear them, but at least the funk will be gone. |

Re: shoes without socks
I never wear socks (except to weddings and funerals or with a tux) - it is totally socially acceptable for a man to go sockless regardless of his attire (ie. It is OK to wear dress shoes and no socks as long as you are not wearing a three piece suit). I find it more comferatble overall - AF

Re: shoes without socks
The funk is nature's way of telling you that you should wear socks with any closed shoe.
My 13 year old has recently also had that revelation. |

Re: shoes without socks
Go with the crocs. They may be butt ugly, but you can wash them in the dishwasher if they get dirty.
Function over form. Edit: if you have been to a hospital recently, notice what half of all the Dr. and nurses are wearing = crocs. They are comfy and easy to clean if they get [insert random bodily fluid here] on them. |

Re: shoes without socks
The deck shoes posted by NhlNut are NOT the cure for stink. Sweaty, bare, foot on leather? Please.
If you put some talcum powder or Gold Bond in the shoes before you were them, it will significantly cut down on the smell. Plus, the shoes will be more comfortable. |
