Default Calling off my TOURNAMENT LIFE with ATo

Hey guys, I can't find the HH, but it's a fairly simple hand.

There's like 60 or 80 left in the afternoon 3R on Stars. I've blinded down to 7xBB after never getting the chance to open/having total rags. I'm in the BB so I have 6xBB after posting. We're 7-handed, and I was moved to this table like less than 10 hands ago so no real reads.

UTG shoves for 9.5xBB total. It folds to me with ATo. Do you HOLDEM OR FOLDEM?

(This is a fairly simple math problem once we figure out UTGs range, so it's just a matter of figuring out what that is. What range do you assign an unknown here, shoving for 9.5xBB UTG at a 7handed table?).

OMG your tournament life.....FOLD!!!

But seriously, easy fold. you're likely a 2-1 dog. You need a better hand, or 1st in vigorish.

message from my convo with gobboboy about it:

"incidentally, do you think it would be worth taking a minorly (is that a word?) -cEV spot there because afterwards ill have less chips to take my +cEV spot, not to mention the ability to resteal, etc"

not sure if this changes your thoughts at all, just throwing it out there. any guess at ranges for an unknown here?

mlagoo--

Fold. Way too many of your opponents in this tournament will be pushing way too tight, and your stack will still be very workable if you fold. (That is, the call is -cEV, -$EV, and Gigabet-style considerations can't turn it into a call.)

I fold because I put my opponent on AQ+ 88+ due to him being UTG. Best case I am up against 88 or 99 and 50/50 (or close to it)

Do I suck at assigning ranges?

I had a similar hadn where I had AJo, which was best hand I've seen in 30min I made the call with 7bbs to a MP2 11bb shove and I was willing to take the gamble to get to 18bbs which than I can go deep in. Just shoving you can only go so far you need to get your stack to restealing level beause you won't always get a hand.
