5/5 live no limit
I have about 23k effective. Am I rolled to play in a good 5/5 nl game? I'm well versed in bankroll requirements for online play but I'm unsure about live.

Re: 5/5 live no limit
The ideas of bankroll management and risk of ruin are the same, but only getting 30 hands per hour means the long run is much longer. So getting unstuck can take a lot longer, and if the game is bad thatt's tough luck, but yes, 23k is enough to play a 5/5 game you think you are a winner in.
I don't think you should be making it your bread and butter on that kind of bankroll, but if you're just supplementing online play you'll be fine. Do you really anticipate losing 20 buyins? |

Re: 5/5 live no limit
Is there a regular 5/5 game going in Las Vegas?
My gut feeling is that the game wouldn't be any better than the 2/5 games in town. |

If the game is good 5k could be enough.

>20 buyins is up there in the "comfy" range. You certainly have the roll to test the waters to try to decide if you like it.

Re: 5/5 live no limit
I think you probably should buy in for $500 instead of $1K at first until you get some wins under your belt and build up your bankroll. You should probably game select carefully at first too. Also you won't have much money in the bank to cover living expenses in case of a bad run.

[/ QUOTE ] Over the summer MGM started running a semi regular 5/5 (1000 max). For whatever reason it was usually better than the 2/5 but I have no idea if it still goes. That's the only time I've seen a 5/5 in town. |
