Just couldnt put him on a hand. With a ten he raises the flop almost always. An ace...why is he betting so large on the river? If he was slowplaying a big hand, due to my checks on flop+turn it looks like I have nothing, so why would he make such a huge overbet? The guy was totally unknown to me, I just really wanted to know what he had, and thought there were good chances he had absolutely nothing. Thoughts?

I totally understand your skepticism, but come at the problem from the other way...

What are you putting him on that you beat, a gutshot?... A high got there, so I don't like my hand.

I dunno hes some random guy, he could have K9 for all I know. You act like him having a gutshot is so unheard of! I get huge calls all the time with one card gutshots by unknown players.

My flop bet was only 25 also. I'm sure some guys will call that with 55.

I dont play many games at that level of buyin, but I see people all the time who would play a 10 that way. Maybe he had a weak kicker, lol. KT, QT, JT, T9, T8 maybe even T2 - because Doyle wins with it - all would be hands I would think are possible from a random player there.

Definitely possible I was just surprised by the sudden giant river bet if he had a weakish ten.

Yeah, I think this is one of those times where if its a random donk, I let it go because either he's bluffing or Im crushed, and that pot probably isnt worth the chance that Im crushed to me. Of course you probably made the right play and he had like 55 or something, right?

And he checked the turn. What a tricky guy!

I think you tell us something along the lines of this frequently: never underestimate how bad your opponents can play.
