Default Weekend in LA

I tried the search function, but it didn't help very much. I'm going to LA on a business trip early next month, and I'm getting there just past noon on Saturday so I can hit the card rooms on the weekend before my meetings on Monday and Tuesday.

The main thing is to try to get the most of the LA poker experience in those two days. Should I just hit Commerce one day and the Bike the other, or would it be worth it to try to hit others like Hustler, Hawaiian Gardens, etc. as well? If I get a chance to play after work on Mon & Tues, which are best on weeknights?

I play mainly LHE in the 6/12 range, probably moving up to 10/20 soon.

Thanks for any advice on how to make the most of the short trip.

Commerce is a must-play if you've never been here before. I really like Hustler because it's physically the best casino in the area. Hawaiian Gardens is a dump. You won't find any 10/20 around here though.

EP,

I'd echo that Commerce is a must play; the Bike's also impressive but I find the play there more nitty than the Commerce. I think it depends on where you're staying when you're out here. If you haven't seen the big rooms then you absolutely should play them; it's pretty eye opening. But if you're closer to Orange County, I think you're better off playing Hawaiian Gardens or Oceans 11 than sitting in an hour or more of traffic. Note on HG...the facility isn't as nice as the Bike or Commerce, but there's a ton of action and the staff has always treated me well.

You can get a sense of the various rooms and games played here.

Note: the table numbers and wait times were taken at about 3p on a weekday; weekends and evenings are about 2x higher.

Hope this helps.

Edmond

9/18 at Commerce is the action game of the century. 10/20 is about the same, maybe better at HG.

Commerce hasn't actually had 6/12 going in forever, though there's usually a list of interest you can put your name on. The 9/18 game there is really good though, if you're willing to move up that high. If not, The Bike has 8/16.

Thanks for all the info, guys. I've played 7.5/15 (pink chip game) in AC, so I'm ok with 9/18. I think I'll play that at Commerce to start then at least check out the Bike and Hustler. I'm staying near LAX during the weekend and at Manhattan Beach Mon & Tue. I've never played in LA before, so I'm looking forward to it. Thanks again.

Commerce and the Bike were great action when I was out there, even during the day (around 3pm). There was some crazy stuff going on and I played much longer than I normally would and even passed on the NL games a couple times in favor of these wild games. It was more relaxed than NL since I didn't have to think as much. Everyone was very transparant. They all had many tells and they're not afraid to gamble AT ALL!!
