HATE these spots...QQ on A hi flop OOP
I've been pretty tight at this table, hand previous got AA in vs. a shortstack. I just have no idea what to do in this spot, should I c/f turn, b/f turn, c/c, I have no idea. No reads on villain.

Check/fold turn as played. I would have check-called the flop though.

Check call flop cause he's calling with mostly only aces?

Raise a little more preflop.
Bet a little more on the flop. Check/fold the turn. If turn goes check/check, then fire a blocking bet if you think villain will float the flop and check the turn with any draw and any pair other than A, or else check/fold the river if you think he's only hung around with a weak ace or better and value bets on the end because he's put you on exactly what you have - an unimproved underpair. |

Re: HATE these spots...QQ on A hi flop OOP
i tend to check call lead turn for 50-70% of pot nowadays alot more. people are less likely to float the turn with air to bluff you on the river once you have check called the flop i think.
i think this kind of "stop-n-go" is more effective on a rainbow board. when i do it on draw heavy boards i seem to get called on the turn anyway because they were semibluffing the flop and still want to see the river when you bet the turn. So unless you lead on the river to not induce a bluff from a busted draw ..you are asking for him to bet his busted draw on the river if you check to him. Thats why i do it more on rainbow boards not drawy boards. People agree with this? |

Re: HATE these spots...QQ on A hi flop OOP
jay19: i think albert bets the flop because when he has AK/AQ he bets the flop. So he feels like he has to bet the flop when he has QQ/KK to not be transparent.
I think this is true if you are always betting AK/AQ on this flop, and always checking QQ/KK. I think in order to balance this you have to sometimes check AK/AQ here..which isn't too bad anyway since you are also controlling pot size with one pair out of position. |

Re: HATE these spots...QQ on A hi flop OOP
I think the reason why I think these types of spots are tough is because maybe my flop play designs the hand poorly... If I c/call flop and lead turn, he will fold any non ace hands basically. If it goes check/check, my QQ is for sure good, and I can VB it in the turn.
