Default Stud 8/b hand

Thoughts on all streets plz. I was a little nervous that the hand behind me might have a low draw that may be better than mine, given his call on 5th. i guess my real question here is there a point i should be thinking fold? because it crossed my mind for a split second on 5th when seat 7 cold called 3 bets after checking. I guess i was saved he didnt hit on 6th and seat 8 ran out of money

Not much mystery here.
You were in wonderful starting position (raise this in low stakes games), improved to even better position on 4th (raise or check-raise low stakes), caught a little something on 5th but still on a very solid draw with both high and low potential (call), bricked 6th but with enough odds to call it down and didn't improve upon showdown.

Welcome to Stud 8.
Sometimes, you're 4 to a straight-flush wheel by 4th street, only to wind up folding 7th with a handful of wasted potential.

I like the way you played this hand. The results are unfortunate, of course, but life's like that. Hands like this are highly tilt-inducing, and that's part of what make stud/8 so profitable. Take a walk and shake it off.

The word fold doesn't come across your mind until 7th.

I don't really like 5th street, am I wrong for feeling this way?

5th street is fine, decent low draw, likely to be better than seat 7's low, straight card may scoop for us, but probably not considering the heavy action.

I'm with Tom on this one 'cept I can deal with peeling one on 5th but by 6th, I'm looking for the exit door.

Yeah I think its very close - sure we have fairly good high and low potential but two eights are dead and one of our opponents certainly might just be playing passive with an already made low since there has been sooo much action.

I think it is fairly dependent on our opponents. If they are over-valueing marginal hands and other bad stuf (which is probably the case) then this is OK.

If one of them is definitly rolled and one definitly has a low though then it is probably bad. Which isnt too far fetched.

Folding sixth street would be insane. I misread this hand last night. I thought that hero had the only possible low draw. He might well be up against a made low on fifth, but I'm guessing he has enough equity to jam anyway.

What do we think is going on with Seat 8?

This is a very marginal hand even at 5th though I think you have to ride it out.

As of 5th, we're big underdogs for high. Assuming that's rolled up 9s he's more likely to fill up or make quads than we are to hit the straight plus his hand is already made at trips. If it's hidden aces then we're much more likely to win on a straight, but it's still a made hand vs a draw.

We're moderate underdogs for low. The A78 may or may not be slowplaying a made low. Even our best case where he's 4 to a low he's not a huge underdog.
