Default JJ in sb facing an all in..

Live tourney $250 buy in.. winner take all.. 23 players..4k+ for the winner
172,500 chips in play

7 handed..

Im in the SB ~ 32,000 chips
BB ~ 15,000
UTG ~ 12,000 ( I consider him equally as good as me )
MP ~ 35,000 ( Donk )
MP ~ 20,000 Average kinda tight
Cutoff ~ 15,000 ( Good but I think Im better )
Button ~ 50,000 ( I consider him a better player than me )

Reason I mentioned everybody is I think it plays a factor whether I fold this hand or call..

Blinds 1000 / 2000 100 Ante

Cutoff limps..
Button goes all in
I have JJ in the SB

What should I be doing here..

From playing with button a lot.. Im pretty confident he's got AK..

Is this a Call? Fold?

10 mins left in this level.. 20 min blind levels next level is 1500/3000 200 Ante

you have to win the tournament to get anything
you have a chance to cripple and double through the only player better than you
you are a favorite against what you are pretty confident he has.
there is no reason not to call

Yea I played it like a little girl..and folded.. He showed AKclubs..

I think im being too results oriented as i've bubbled quite a few tourneys lately in a similar situation.. In retrospect I think you're right I guess I should've called..

But at the time I was thinking I know I can find a better spot than this 51/49..

well, i guess you may find another spot but its unlikely. Despite your decent stack size your M is still only about 5 which is time to do something. To me, buttons push looks like a steal...but you know how he plays so, it very well may be AK....thats the most reasonable assumption. IMO I could see him doing this with a decent range of hands though. The thing is ....this is a winner take all tourny...correct? So you HAVE to be playing to win. And to do that you need a big stack. So I would take my small edge here and gamble. If you win this pot you have the table crushed...if not, well you live to fight another day. Either way this is a tough spot to be in and Im sure others will disagree, so you'll have to wait and get some more responses.

^^ Funny thing is.. two hands later in the cutoff I raised 3X BB with K9 of diamonds (30,000 chips).. BB called (had approx 35,000 chips ).. flop came K 8 9 rainbow.. He went all IN.. barely had me covered I called.. showed KJ my hand held up.. became chip leader.. went card dead..and 30 mins later lost AQ to AA and walked away in 4th place.. Live poker is soo rigged..

Knowing nothing about the button, I call in a heartbeat. If you have some high probability of him having AK, well... that's a race with a non-trivial overlay against the other big stack (a very good player) in a winner-take-all tourney. Seems like a definite call.

CO's open-limp seems awful to me, btw.

Dude, you gave button a ridiculously narrow range. Did you forget about AQ/AJ? 77? 22? It's possible that after a couple hours you could say his range is weighted towards AK, but simply saying that he has exactly AK and never has anything else is really bad poker thinking. I doubt you had such a stellar read that you can say that he has a 0% chance of having 77. This is a very easy call. And if he physically turned up his cards and showed you that he had AKs, you should instacall.
