3/6 swings?
What can I expect in terms of swings at a 3/6 live game. I have slightly above average card reading skills and am capable of a TAG game; I sometimes lose myself. At the 2/4 table my largest swing (not attributable to tilt) was about 25-30 BB. Would this be consistent in a 3/6 game?

Re: 3/6 swings?
I don't know about live, but aren't the swings worse there than online? your variance is much higher isn't it? Then again I expect your expectation is also higher so it compensates slightly for downswings, but still.
Anyway, for online play if that's comparable, 100 BB swings are very normal. 200 BB swings happen sometimes, and most players have once had a 300 BB swing somewhere throughout a year. If your largest swing has been 25-30 you've been lucky. (or unlucky, depending on the direction). |

Re: 3/6 swings?
My down swings have been higher but I would attribute most of the large swing days to my own mistakes and poor play. Not the cards. Some day's I'll be able to throw away top set to a made hand and other days I'll call down with bottom pair out of frustration. Tilt is my biggest leak!

Re: 3/6 swings?
throwing away top set is virtually always a mistake. Don't make a distinction between your "good" play and your "bad" play. Your play is your play, and so it belongs to your swings. This is like saying you win a lot when you are winning

Re: 3/6 swings?
The times I play 3/6 live I have bought in for $100. Then have another $100 ready quickly if I get off to a poor start. I don't think I have ever needed more than that amount = 33 BB. I don't see why this would be any different than 2/4.

Re: 3/6 swings?
I humbly disagree. When I'm very aware of my poor play and from that point on I correct that mistake it's no longer part of my game.
As for throwing away top set it was the correct play since I knew two players had made their hands (straight and flush). |
