PokerStars now offering multiple sattelites to weekly VIP freeroll
Now there are 2 satellites each week for both GoldStar and PlatinumStar.
Expect the value of these things to begin its' decline. Discuss. |

Re: PokerStars now offering multiple sattelites to weekly VIP freeroll
1 seat for every 5 players for Gold, 1 for every 3 players for Platinum.
That should allow about 1000 NON-SuperNova players to play the 50K. Let the invasion begin..... |

Re: PokerStars now offering multiple sattelites to weekly VIP freeroll
If Stars must use this system couldn't they for instance have a seat quota for each level and make the fpprolls award a set number of seats - for instance 100 seats for platinum and 50 for gold and award 50 and 25 seats in each tournament respectively - seems like a way to keep everyone reasonably happy. The golds and plats get their chance and the supernovas don't feel overwhelmed (and under valued).

Re: PokerStars now offering multiple sattelites to weekly VIP freeroll
727 today for $68 value for the entry which isn't terrible but is definitely less than thrilling.
not sure if it's going up or down from here. Maybe more golds and plats as a more people come to Stars. But maybe there was peak interest in the satellites to start and that might fade. With early registration (able to register the day before I think...maybe earlier) you're going to get some people who do it and then don't show up. Quick perusal shows not many of these though. Everybody on my table is here. Most tables had 1 sit-out at the start, maybe 2. In other news, I've already donked-off more than half my chips. |

not sure if it's going up or down from here [/ QUOTE ] Not much question it'll go down - even if interest in the sats decreases, the closer you get to the end of the month the more golds and plats there are. I would expect, assuming that the current system is left in place that the tournament on the second weekend of the month from now on will have the best value and decline progressively from there with the first weekend of the month having the worst value. |

Re: PokerStars now offering multiple sattelites to weekly VIP freeroll
Just my guess, the last Saturday will have the most players in the $50k based on the $100k running at the same time. Todays satellites will award 162 tickets to the $50k. The satellites on Sunday should award about the same amount of $50k tickets.

not sure if it's going up or down from here. [/ QUOTE ] The fact that they doubled the number of satellites should tell us that we can expect more entrants. I'm happy with the $68. However, 1. It is significantly less than what SuperNova's were receiving in 2006 2. It is going to go significantly down not only due to more satellites but also a huge increase in traffic at PokerStars since last year when Party was still open for business. In other words, there is going to be a lot more SuperNovas this year than there were last. When it sinks below $25 I probably won't play. But in the meantime I think it's great and I fully appreciate the entire VIP program. In reality the only way to successfully run these freerolls is to make the value constant throughout the year. In other words, if more players are playing then the prizepool should go up. Ideally this should simply be a $75 tournament and the prizepool should be adjusted according to how many players there are. On a sidenote I finished the tournament on the third hand, so maybe the value doesn't matter in some cases. |

Re: PokerStars now offering multiple sattelites to weekly VIP freeroll
I agree $68 isn't great.
I would be surprised to see the value dip below $25. It might not even get much below $50. But I'm certainly not exactly going to change my weekend plans to stay home and play this $50 thing. Perhaps there will be additional WSOP and PCA and WCOOP freerolls exclusively for SN's...or other such incentives. Because the low-level SN's definitely aren't getting as much as they did before. I'm not too concerned about it. Mostly just aiming for 500k milestone or higher and racking up the 3.5x FPP's. |
