Yay Decemberists

You know what I think about Decemberists... I'll settle for them being #2 for you.

The Yorke album is a bit overrated, and I can't get into the Knife. I like Tapes N Tapes, the Belle & Sebastian record is a nice comeback for them (forgot it was this year), and this is prob. TV On the Radio's best album yet even though their sound isn't my style.

I don't have my list in front of me but there are some big guns you're missing (mine will have stuff like The Pipettes on it).

every year some overrated indie band from Minneapolis gets a bite - 10K bands and 1K don't suck but only 10% chance of getting one of those to the national scene.

they do nothing for me otherwise

And yes, Arctic Monkeys was 2006, and Tapes 'n Tapes (as much as I love them, and they'd be #5 on this list) was Fall 2005.

Pipettes, Band of Horses and Neko were three honourable mentions for me


The pipettes have this weird thing going, where I think the top half of their cd is probably better than the top half of 6-10 on my list, but the bottom half drags it down below the cut for me
