America’s Holy Warriors
The drive by the Christian right to take control of military chaplaincies, which now sees radical Christians holding roughly 50 percent of chaplaincy appointments in the armed services and service academies, is part of a much larger effort to politicize the military and law enforcement. This effort signals the final and perhaps most deadly stage in the long campaign by the radical Christian right to dismantle America’s open society and build a theocratic state. A successful politicization of the military would signal the end of our democracy.

It's only the natural backlash against the communism/liberalism/socialism agenda which has been forced on this society through the courts for the past 50 years. So now, theocracy is a force in the American Democracy. Don't like someone being able to vote their views or give voice to their beliefs through the democratic process? Don't believe in democracy anymore when the liberal-professor-journalist-entertainer-bureacrat complex isn't the only game in town? Tough titty. |

Re: America’s Holy Warriors
If the majority is religious, and the state turns out as a theocracy, wouldn't that be good according to democratic ideals?

Re: America’s Holy Warriors
Democracy is only "good" if godless communists can subvert it for their social revolution.
Did you read the comments below the linked article? Someone gave it seven out of ten tinfoil hats! It's so twisted, the military as a threat to US Democracy? It has been the military which has ensured Democracy. If it were otherwise, I might be writing this in ze Duestch. |

[/ QUOTE ] Depends on how you define a democracy and how you think it ought to function. If you believe only 51% of people should be concerned at any one time, then your facetious statement holds. |

I just can't take any poster seriously that starts off with outdated political stereotypes from the 50s. |

Title 10
The members of the armed forces are supposed to stay out of politics and religious affairs. Their oath of loyalty is to the constitution and not to a single person, even if that person is Jesus Christ. They swear to obey the orders of their officers and their commander-in-chief but their duty is to support and defend the constitution of the United States.
The armed forces and law enforcemens agencies of the U.S. are currently being infiltrated by religious fanatics with an agenda that is not democratic but, rather, theocratic. This is what the article reports. It's a development that should worry everyone who truly believes in a secular, liberal democracy. Especially people like yourself who have served their country in defence of those values. Mickey Brausch |
