Default Midweek action in downtown LV?

I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas for either late January or early February, probably a Sunday-Thursday trip. I'm thinking of staying downtown (either at the Plaza, Vegas Club, or Californian). Question: what are the poker games like downtown (@ Plaza, Binions, Nugget) during the week? I'm looking to play limit hold'em anywhere from $3-$6 to $5-$10, maybe catch a morning tourney. I've been on the Strip before during the week, so if you want to compare the dowtown and strip midweek poker games that'd work, along with any specifc downtown info you have.
Thanks.

About all the plaza ever gets running is $2/4 limit. They do have SnGs during the day (at least when I was there in Oct they did) and those were running 2-3 at a time pretty much non-stop till 5 or 6pm when they stop running them for the day. They also have a few tournies each day, the midnight one isn't too bad and there's plenty of bad players.

I think Binions had some $2/$4 limit, $4/8 limit, and $1/$2 NL running when I was there. I played in few tournies there but I think those started at 7pm or 9pm. They were just starting some televised tourney things after I was leaving so I didn't get a chance to check those out and don't know if they're still going or not.

Didn't get to the Golden Nugget so can't comment on their room.

I stayed at the Plaza and Vegas Club when I was there (both were comped from Video Poker play at Vegas Club last year) but I think my Vegas Club room was bigger.

Be sure to go over to Mermaids for some $.99 deep fried oreos

nugget seems to be the best during the week in my downtown midweek experiences, buncha drunks spewing off chips at 4/8. binions is a bunch of nitty locals, one who bitched at me for not tipping $2 instead of 1, especially in the morning, but later in the day more non-locals hop in. plaza had 3/6 going every time i was there, but it wasnt as loose as the nugget game, maybe because drink service was not as fast.

ive stayed at plaza and LV club both in the standard room, plaza was a little nicer, but LV club was cheaper. californian i havent seen the rooms but ive been all up in it, and it seems ok, be sure to hit up the $3.99 NY Steak special at that cafe downstairs, and DONT forget to get some fried oreos, they are sooo good. also, dont forget to hit up the el cortez, its a memorable experience, hell im gonna go there in about an hour, gotta build up my jackie's club points!

I stay at the Fitzgerald. It's clean, cheap, and fairly newly remodeled.

Kripsy Kreme is in half the casinos in town now.

Mermaids is right next door to Binions on the left side if you're looking at the building. (west side of Binion's) there is a access road between the 2 joints. Mermaids is slots only with a bar, but man this joint can be lots of fun. They still use coin out slots too!

It only counts a fresh if the factory is in the establishment. Mmmmm...Excalibur... donuts right off the assembly line.

Visiting friends a couple weeks back wanted to see downtown so we wandered under the canopy and ended up in Fitz. Went up to see the poker room and ended up hanging out in a booth in the keno lounge for like 3 hours getting the most amazingly efficient drink service ever. Like 40 $1 drinks and 15 keno tickets later (and not a single winner...keno is rigged), we left happy after they closed keno.

Absolutely! If they aren't warm, they aren't the same.

There's also one in the same plaza as the Walmart on Spring Mtn and I've seen another somewhere in Summerlin or North.

Ya ain't sinned until you've eaten more than six Krispy Kreme's at one time. (I've managed 9 before the dozen cooled down.)
