bankroll management question for NL holdem
I have a current bankroll of $600.
1.) Is this an adequate roll for multitabling $25max tables (maybe 4-6 tables) Or is it just enough to play at 1 $25max table? 2.) Does multitabling 5 $5max tables equal playing in one $25max table (with a $600 bankroll)? Hope that made any sense at all. Thanks in advanced. -FlipRon |

Re: bankroll management question for NL holdem
Bankroll requirements do not go up for a given level just because you are playing more tables. $600 is a good bankroll for 25NL, play as many tables as you are comfortable with.

Re: bankroll management question for NL holdem
I think you can 4-table 25NL provided that you are willing to drop down to 10NL should your bankroll suffer from any variance

Re: bankroll management question for NL holdem
the number of tables you play doesn't effect your bankroll requirement. $500 is the standard for 25NL. If anything, playing more tables would reduce variance, as you would play more hands quicker.

Re: bankroll management question for NL holdem
Variance does not reduce with adding tables though if that's what you are implying. Variance reduces with the no. of hands played which of course has got something to do with multitabling.
Just to make it more clear. As a rough guideline 20 times the max buyin of a stake is needed as a bankroll. So for 25NL $500 is usually regarded as a good bankroll. Know when to step down though! |

Re: bankroll management question for NL holdem
1) Yes
2) No Your roll requirement depends on two things 1) The stakes you play 2) Your win rate If you are beating a stake for 8ptbb/100 then your swings will be smaller than if you are only beating it for 2ptbb/100 From this follows that adding more tables does not require a bigger roll, as long as your winrate does not drop as a consequence of adding more tables. 600$ is imo a good roll for four tabling 25NL A good roll for playing 5NL would be 100-125$ etc etc ... If you feel like it then give it a shot ... If you don't mind reloading, then roll is really no issue ... else drop down to 10NL if you hit 300$ or there abouts. |

If you are beating a stake for 8ptbb/100 then your swings will be smaller than if you are only beating it for 2ptbb/100 [/ QUOTE ] I am currently at 8ptbb/100 and I easily swing 4-5 buyins a day. |

Re: bankroll management question for NL holdem
So I got $100 in my account after messing around in .02/.04 tables.. Now is my bankroll good enough to play .10/.20 table with allowing myself to jump down to .05/.10 if I hit $50 again?
I guess what I'm asking is $150 should be a good roll for .25/.50 $100 for .10/.20 and under $50 for .05/.10 or.02/.04 correct..? I'm also trying to play a higher staked game to clear my bonus faster.. |

Re: bankroll management question for NL holdem
There is an audio interview on full tilt poker with a poker pro, cant remember his name, Ladrer I think. His nick name is The Professor and apparently hes one of the biggest names on FTP.
When asked about bankroll, he says pretty much what everyone else does. But when concerning multitabling, he says you need to take into account deviation that increases with the number of tables you play. He says it equals to the aquare root of the number of tables (so its 2 for 4 tables). Then you take you "ideal bankroll in vacuum" and multiplay it by this amount. So his calculations would be 20 buyins x sqrt(4) = 20 x 2 = 40 buying for 4 tables. |
