Roommate Wrecks Car; Probably Totalled
So my roommate crashed my car over the weekend, its probably totalled, so I should be gettting a check in the mail for about $6k from the insurance company. I'll be needing a new car. Some factors:
1. I'll be moving to LA in the summer/fall, and live in DC now, so I need a car that does well in cities. 2. I want something that's fairly cheap to maintain, including gas and maintenance. 3. I defintiely want something that looks decent, don't want to look like a jackass driving around LA. 4. I can drive automatic or manual. Any reccomendations for my price range? |

Re: Roommate Wrecks Car; Probably Totalled
unless u know how to work on cars, older luxury cars are great as they are reliable and safe, but if anything goes wrong your going to have to put some time in to pay for it. Efficient and reliable u need to go Japaneses, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, even mistushitty if u like rollin the dice.

I second the civic suggestion. They get something like 40mpg. They fit right in in LA I'm sure, plus they run forever if maintained.

Pricey, pricey insurance. Some of the most stolen cars around, along with the Integra.

Re: Roommate Wrecks Car; Probably Totalled
I would get a mid nineties civic, i got a 93 dx civic with 160k miles on it that needed some work for 400 bux. It's great I modded the intake and put a test pipe on, get 30mpg+ city, and 40+ on the highway, and it's an auto.
And I don't care if anyone steals it, i have two other cars, but that's beside the point, it's not worth stealing, 1.5l engine automatic. Yeah gsr's, type r's and si's get stolen cause engine worth 2-4k. But a cheapy mid 90's civic and use the rest to get yourself out of bustotown. Consider this a blessing. |
