Was I the only one who saw this? [/ QUOTE ] I saw it. The announcing, especially Vorhaus, was pretty bad. It was discussed at this thread. |

Re: Final Table of 2006 Aruba Poker Classic on GSN- Friday
How did Poker Stars manage to keep its World Poker Tour status while Party Poker and Ultimate Bet did not?

I'm sure Oliver could do better than I regarding this, but I think this may be the last year of PokerStars' contract with the WPT.

I'm sure Oliver could do better than I regarding this, but I think this may be the last year of PokerStars' contract with the WPT. [/ QUOTE ] PokerStars has a year-to-year arrangement with the WPT. Basically, PokerStars hires WPTE to produce and distribute the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure TV show. Why? It costs PokerStars much less to hire WPTE to do it, and WPTE already has the distribution. Note also that the PartyGaming-WPTE "logo burn-in" agreement in established "international TV markets" starting with WPT Season 4 requires PartyGaming to negotiate with WPTE "in good faith" to bring the PartyPoker Million back to the WPT starting with Season 6. It'll be interesting to see whether WPTE goes forward with launching WPTOnline.com version 2.0 now that WPTE and PartyGaming have done the logo burn-in deal, which basically means that WPTE has all but given up marketing WPTOnline.com in established markets such as the UK, Canada, and Australia. That would leave Italy, Spain, and most of Asia (except South Korea and the Philippines) as potential battlegrounds between PartyGaming and WPTOnline.com. |
