Default wildlife BBV (w/ pics)

i was recently staying down in a small town on the coast when, as i'm walking down our driveway, i see a koala in the gum tree.

i've been going down to this town for 22 years and i've never ever seen a koala. anyway, i climb up in the tree and get my camera phone out to take some pics.

i was about an arms length away from him (he was a big bastard) and i think he started to get a bit annoyed at my presence. he turned to me, took one arm off the tree to show his claws and growled (think a really deep, throaty sound, a bit like a bear). i went to move away along the branch and, in my haste, fell out of the tree.

brag: got to sit in the same tree as a koala for about 10mins as he went about business.

beat: fell out of the tree when he got agitated.

here's an echidna for the hell of it:

it's fair to say i'm not the next steve irwin, i didn't want a bar of his action (last i checked there was no stingray barb in my chest either).

for an animal that sleeps about 20hours of the day koalas are really grumpy and aggressive if you invade their space. they're not cuddly like we're led to believe.
