tough AK hand
** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to hero [ As Kd ] hero raises [$2]. yiutang folds. pinchito calls [$4]. scarre calls [$4]. 8079pb folds. dufman79 folds. Bahnsen folds. Jagdfex folds. ** Dealing Flop ** [ Ad, 3s, 10s ] hero bets [$2]. pinchito raises [$4]. scarre calls [$4]. hero raises [$4]. pinchito calls [$2]. scarre calls [$2]. ** Dealing Turn ** [ 7h ] hero bets [$4]. pinchito raises [$8]. scarre folds. hero calls [$4]. ** Dealing River ** [ 4h ] hero checks. pinchito bets [$4]. hero calls [$4]. ** Summary ** pinchito shows [ 10d 10c ]. hero mucks. pinchito collected [$55.1]. Should I fold this on the turn? I can only beat AJ AQ. The villain is a solid TAG so its a bit tricky. I cant put him on TT since I think he would 3bet preflop and there are only 2 other hands he could have which I beat. He would definetly call with AQs AJs. SO thats what I put him on since he s pretty abc and would only call preflop with those hands, otherwise 3bet. Bad call? Against a bad player I would definetly fold but I had a good read on him and thought he could only have AJ AQ there. But then again what does he put me on with AQ AJ that 3bets that flop and leads the turn, maybe KQ of spades? I really cant put him on TT there and I didnt really understand how he could raise the turn with anything else than TT. |

Re: tough AK hand
If your description of him being a solid tag is correct,I believe that your analysis of the situation is exactly right. This means that the turn laydown after his raise would be a good play.He doesn't have AQ or AJ & raise the turn if he plays that well.He knows that you have at least AK,& he knows that he has you beat.
You probably called him down for 1 of 2 reasons1)You weren't sure enough of your read on his play at the moment,or(2)you didn't analyze the situation as well in the heat of battle as you did after you had time to consider he hand later.I have done this many times.Don't we all wish we could evaluate situations at the table as well as we can later when we have plenty of time & no pressure. Good luck to you.Ben. |
