Default Stud8 hand #1

Opponent knows how to play but certainly not expert; he is probably a little too loose on 3rd and 4th. Main question is river - but what about the 4th street check?

7 Card Stud High-Low ($30/$60), Ante $5, Bring-In $10 (converter)

Folding fourth can't be too far wrong. The river is interesting. I think I like a bet here. Hopefully, it will fold out a small pair allowing you to scoop. If the other guy happens to make a low, AKQ might be good enough to escape.

Bet, you can't let him show down a pair of 2s-3s for free. If he had a good low draw+flush draw I'd think he'd bet 5th, seems pretty unlikely you're scooped.

I would have bet 4th, if he is drawing to smoother low, time to find out now. I see no reason to bet the river. the only value in betting the river is if he has a busted low and will fold a 1-pair high.

"Folding fourth can't be too far wrong."

[/ QUOTE ] As the cards lie you're probably right, but there are other factors. Hero completed the bet and a loose player merely called from the bi. Continue to establish your image as a tough player, and bet until he shows some strength, otherwise you invite a lot of calls with marginal hands that will hope to outplay you. If you bet and are raised then you can muck right away, but if merely called when looking at a connector in a live suit, you can determine you have the only low draw, or your ace high is winning for high.
