Garcia to Phils for Gavin Floyd and prospect

So far, it seems like Phillies fans love the deal, and White Sox fans hate it. Ken Williams apparently let it slip that the prospect involved in the deal is Gio Gonzalez, who the Phils acquired in the Thome deal

As a Phillies fan, I have a lot of worries about this trade. Gavin Floyd's stuff has never impressed me that much, but he's still young, and has been highly touted since being drafted. We kind of know what we're getting in Garcia, not exactly top of the rotation kind of stuff, while the deal could easily blow up in the Phils' face if Floyd turns out to be a late bloomer

And Garcia is pretty significantly underrated. You'll have the option of trading him for three times this bounty by the All Star Break.

At this point, I think it's more likely that Floyd never amounts to anything than he becomes a "late bloomer" that ends up better than Garcia.

Great deal for the Phillies.

lol pitcher in the AL with mid 4 ERA = OMG GIVE UP ALL OUR PROSPECTS for playoff bound teams.

Guys, the value on the Philly side was Gonzalez, not Floyd.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but it's pretty true. I mean there's a decent chance Garcia is 11-6 at the break with like a 3.5 ERA for Philly. Clubs will seriously overpay in this situation.

that's what i figured too, but on Unfiltered, Nate mentioned Gonzalez as being a B-/C+ prospect. did his stock drop, or was he just not as good a prospect as I initially thought?
