Please help ..yet another Hand analysis.
Hi guys,
The situation: MTT, 65.00 to buy in + a 10 dollar bounty. 8 tables to start, about 80 players. A Long, 9 hours have passed. My first MTT ever. I'm thrilled to have made it to the final table. At the FT, only top 7 finish in the money, #8 gets a free buy-in for the next tourney. This tournament is well known in the Toronto area and It expected many experienced players are there. Anyways, I reach the final table with a little less than the average stack size. Time passes, 8 players are left. (Of course, being human I start to worry about the bubble and I don't want to waste 9 hours of my life.) But anyways, here's the hand.. (8 players are left, remmeber only #7 or better pays). I'm on the button. 2 seats away from the BIG Blind yells "all In". I don't know anything about this player as I haven't played with him yet to this point. But he is easily low stack at the table. He's got about 60% of what I have. If I lose to him, I will be alive but seriously low stacked on the table. The next player after him calls. I know this guy. He is a very loose-"loves to chase" player. I'd go so far to say he's not very skilled and luck had taken him to the final at this point. However, he is 2nd highest stack and easily covers mine. I look down at my cards and reveal "10-10", pocket 10's. Should I call with a chance to almost triple up? What happens is that I eventually fold. The first player shows A-4 off suit, the caller shows A-7. THe 7 hits the flop but nothing else and my pocket 10's would have won. I eventually finish 5th place in the tourney for 330.00 in prize money. Thanks for any help, in advance. |

Re: Please help ..yet another Hand analysis.
We need to know the blinds, antes, and approximate stack sizes in order to give you a better analysis of the hand.
Also please edit out the results and do not include them in future posts because they are completely irrelevant to the analysis of the situation Welcome to the forums! Steve |

Re: Please help ..yet another Hand analysis.
Sorry about that,
The antes are 100.00 each, blinds at 1500/3000. I have about 50,000 in chips, the small stack had maybe 25-30,000, the big stack had at around 220,000 in chips. |

Re: Please help ..yet another Hand analysis.
equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 23.994% 23.11% 00.89% 11762840369 453523808.33 { 44+, A6s+, QJs, A7o+, KQo } Hand 1: 35.194% 34.26% 00.94% 17440626227 478527261.33 { 66+, ATs+, QJs, AJo+, KQo } Hand 2: 40.812% 40.20% 00.62% 20465435624 314333286.33 { TT } Some not too horrible ranges for villains. I won't bother calculating pot odds here, because they're obviously way good enough for you to call profitably here. Push it in (big stack will call for sure, and if he miraculously doesn't, well yiha). The only thing that matters besides this is whether you really want to get in the money or not. Even if you do, chances are _very_ good the short stack will lose the hand, so a call seems obligatory to me if reads are correct. |

Re: Please help ..yet another Hand analysis.
With an M=10 I would want to make something happen sooner rather than later. With your read on the caller I would push all in here with 99+ AQ+ and be very happy I had made the right decision.
If this is your first big live tournament you have done very well to get where you have.I know the bubble is a source of fear for some people but you have to use it to your advantage. Always watch out for those players tightening before the final table and attack ther blinds, its the most profitable point in a tournament and sets you up for a very high finish. |
