After a big win....

For those of you that keep good records:

How did you do in your session immediately following your biggest win? I'm trying to figure out whether people tend to do better than average because they're playing with confidence or worse than average because they're overconfident and don't fear losing as much as they normally do.

you're not gonna figure out anything statistically useful by asking here. most people won't even remember.

I have a theory a little different than your confidence theory. My biggest wins come when there are lots of loose callers who stay in too long. In these games your long term gain is greater but you win less frequently because people draw out, and you have to hit your draws to win.

When I have my biggest wins it is at such games. My consecutive sessions are most likely to be against the same line-up because I travel to a particular place and play for several days. If I find a good game, I'm back there the next day. Thus, when I am lucky in one of these types of games I am less likely to win big in my next session as these are the types of line-ups where I win less frequently, but have bigger wins when I do win.

I don't know about my "biggest win" but my stats show that after a big win I usually either win nicely again or suffer a big loss.

My theory is I tend to play too many hands when I'm rolling, but I tend to be confident and optimistic so it balances out, but leads to greater swings.

I just checked and I won again after both of my biggest wins.

after i won 5k in a night (it was my biggest win some months ago) i took 2000$ which i had in 100$ bills on my desk and let money rain on me [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
i felt like dagobert duck although i only found 1900$ after that. Took me 3 days to find the other 100$.

I won 4 times and lost 4 times the day after I won 50+bb's (live poker only) in 2007. You can expect that this thread will be a waste of time because circumstances and mentalities are all so different.
