I've lost somewhere around 300 bb at 10/20 this month. Probably 100 bb due to bad play/tilt.

Oh snap i'm excited you posted this. now i can ask a lc question.
What % of the time do you play your A-game? Do you think if you played less hands you would play your A-game more often? Or are you too cool for this problem? basically i've been 'grinding' this month and for some reason thought that i should just move down and play tons. I can think of 2 sessions this month where I wasn't playing my "A-game" as I like to call it and I'm still upset about playing then. What I have overcome is my desire to chase losses all night and play online blackjack. You have no idea how good that feels.

[/ QUOTE ] I actually think that tightening up can HURT your game when you feel you might be tilting. When you make a conscious effort to fold more hands preflop, I think that might start running over to your postflop play. it puts your mind into a tightened up mentality in general when it might not be healthy. Your mind has already been conditioned over your disproportionate losing spell to think you are making too many calls/showdowns, and its very likely you will end up folding too often. I actually try to make as few changes to my gameplay on a huge losing streak, though obviously it hasn't been doing too well for me. I honestly don't think my losing streak is due to tilt so much has wonderfully bad luck though, which is actually a bit more frustrating than knowing im playing poorly. If you want to try tightening up, id say you should try it when you are running normally. that way, you can make more rational decisions about tweaking your postflop play to match your preflop style.

[/ QUOTE ] I think, for me, that I have to crush myself first. Then the realization that I lost a bunch of mobnies due to idiocy eventually sinks in (once I am forced to move down, lol).

at least 40% of my downswings are due to ensuing tilt. True enough it is something I must learn to control.
