Default Broadband frequently disconnecting

I have recently moved house and after a month of being mucked around by BT (Im in UK) they finally got our broadband sorted. However, I experience frequent disconnections. The broadband will cut off for a minute or so, then come back on.

This is with a wired connection (ethernet) but it also happens on my laptop (wireless) so I think the problem is with the line or modem. The modem worked perfectly fine in my old house so I think that can be ruled out.

Any suggestions?

Please read the FAQ and use the steps there to better describe what link in the chain is busted during a disconnect.

The disconnect only lasts 30secs - 1 min. By the time ive moaned about the lost money in the pot and smacked the keys to attempt reconnect on my game...its come back on and Ive lost the pot.

What you're asking is, during a d/nect, I should type ipconfig in 'run' and follow the other instructions?

You can certainly setup a ping to<ul type="square">[*]yourself (127.0.0.1)[*]your router[*]a distant IP[*]a distant domain name[/list]I bet you'll have time to look at the ping to see if it's getting through, even if you only have 60 seconds.

and even more so, you can open 3 command windows and do ping -t with the first 3 in that list and leave it running, then have one more window open with ping yahoo.com or something else
