Default Not what I expected

I just sat down at a pstars 10/20 9-handed game and posted after my button. I hadnt even posted the BB yet when this happen..

1.5k eff. stacks
I get dealt JJ utg+1

utg makes it 60, I call, mp call, the button makes it 400, utg folds, I fold, mp folds

I sent the hand to a friend whos opinions I respect to ask about whether it was right/wrong to lay them down. To my suprise he instead thinks my prior action was incorrect, and that I should have 3bet it with JJ utg+1 instead of just calling the original raise to $60. I did not expect this response and I argued that I was way too early to 3bet with jacks in a 9handed game, but he continued to disagree. So I want to hear what you guys think, is it even an argument?

Your first hand, you pick up JJ in SECOND position, and you just call an UTG raise?

This is an obvious raise. By just calling, you're just inviting worse hands to come in behind you, with position, and decent implied odds.

i dont think u reraise JJ vs UTG raise but i would raise to raise from any other position- nice fold pf tho button has wide range u dont have big enough stacks for set value if u think he's 3betting light u could def shove or u could call and get it in on safe flop and let him bluff off in position

i dont mind the first coldcall since most people have tighter ranges utg (and right now we have no reads so we are basically giving him the range of "most people")

20xBB is a large reraise but he IS the button and can easily be making a squeeze at it with any 2 cards

i really don't like it but i definately see the argument in folding but i would keep my eye on button in the future and if he keeps making these squeezes in position, i would begin playing back at him

ban restrikt plz. I dont understand how you can fold this preflop, raises from UTG dont mean anything in cash games. Calling or reraising is fine here, but i fold to the reraise preflop, especially with your stack.
